Hamburger Stroganoff

Very hearty, fast, classic Russian dish that can be served with rice or egg noodles. Better than using hamburger helper.

  • 1/2c minced onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms sliced or 8 oz can of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 can (10.5 oz.) cream of chicken soup, undiluted
  • 1 cup sour cream


  1. Saute onions and garlic and a little bit of the ground beef to give it some fat to saute the onion. Add the rest of the ground beef and brown.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, pepper and mushrooms. Reduce heat a little and cook for 5 min. Stir in soup, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 10 min. Stir in sour cream, heat throughly.

Additional information

Garnish with parsley. You may substitute a can of cream of mushroom soup, if you don't have mushrooms on hand.
